About the charity
“Education is a more important driver of growth than business investment, population growth or even price stability”
José Angel Gurria, Secretary-General of the OECD, at the 34th UNESCO General Conference in Paris in October 2007.
We at The Wings of Hope agree.
It is our objective to provide quality, long-term education over periods of up to 10 years to those who would otherwise have the least hope of receiving any education at all. The poor and orphaned children who attend our schools can look forward to a future of promise instead of poverty, contribution instead of destitution, hope instead of despair.
Education is the best weapon against poverty and dependency. You can help fight the good fight!
‘Teaching’ is the key concept.
We in the developed world become most aware of the poverty and desperation in the developing world in the wake of conflicts and disasters, causing humanitarian crises that demand our immediate attention. And rightly so. But a more fundamental form of aid is also urgently needed – to teach developing communities how to help themselves. ‘Teach’ is the key concept here.
Education is the one form of aid that will help break the cycle of poverty and dependency. Education can become a self-sustaining motor for economic development: an increasingly educated populace will generate more growth, which in turn will make more resources available for education. And that is why we at The Wings of Hope are so excited about our educational projects in India and Malawi.
