USE MUSIC TO DEVELOP KIDS' COMMUNICATION SKILLS

How do I do that?

Studies have shown that exposing young children to music can really help develop their brains. That’s why our children’s sessions are so important. Many of the kids who come along are from socially or economically disadvantaged backgrounds, so without your help they wouldn't have access to this opportunity.

What does it cost?

£75 will pay for c.15 kids to enjoy one of our group sessions.

When will I see the difference?

Tell me more...

The kids involved range from just three months up to about five, and many come from socially or economically disadvantaged backgrounds. After a warm up session, there are lots of songs (like Mr Crocodile) to sing and instruments to play. It teaches children rhythm, gives them an awareness of others and even helps parents learn how to bond with and develop their child. The medical studies even suggest it might help with language and socialisation as the children grow.

There are about 15 children in each group, and they meet weekly for up to ten weeks.

Update: 21/12/11

Dear Mike and Colin,

This July, thanks to your kind donations we were able to hold a special music session in our multi-sensory music studio for young children with profound and multiple learning difficulties. Around 10 children took part including a baby who is our youngest ever participant and loved every minute!

What made that session extra special was the fact that all the parents and carers took part too and found it an immense source of support for each other as well as a chance to play wonderful music.

The parents and carers are now working with us to try and raise more funding to allow such sessions to happen on a regular basis - and it's given a whole new meaning to the term 'bouncing baby'...

Many thanks,

Debbie Geraghty
