Education for Godspower
JOB DONE: AWAITING FEEDBACKKEEP AN EXCEPTIONALLY BRIGHT NIGERIAN CHILD IN SCHOOLHow do I do that?Godspower is an exceptional boy, and we’d like to give him an exceptional future.Whilst state funded primary schools in Nigeria are free, but often exceptionally overcrowded, secondary schools in the region are all fee-paying, and as such, Godspower would not have the opportunity to attend... without your help. What does it cost?It costs £4000 to pay for Godspower's full boarding fees at secondary school for one year, including books, uniforms, food and travel to see his sister every weekend. When will I see the difference?Path to Possibilities are now putting together the feedback to show you the difference your money has made so we'll be bringing you another 'success story' very soon!
Tell me more...It’s hard to believe that Godspower Nwachuckwu was a 12 year old orphan who lived with his teenage sister before we took him out of a poverty-stricken childhood. Since he’s started boarding school at Caleb Secondary School, Lagos, in October 2009, he’s never looked back. State funded Primary schools in Nigeria are free, but are often exceptionally overcrowded, with over 100 students in a class. Secondary schools in the region are all fee-paying, and as such, many children never get the chance to attend. Path to Possibilities scout state funded primary schools, working with headteachers and classteachers to find the most gifted students to sit our assessment test. We visit the homes and families of those who score highest, talking to parents and encouraging the children to take the entrance exams for our pre-selected secondary schools. The strongest candidate is then sponsored by Path to Possibilities. Godspower was the very first recipient of the P2P scholarship fund, and prior to receiving the scholarship, Godspower attended a state funded primary school, with over 150 students in a class. He often attended school hungry and malnourished, but his academic abilities shone through; he was top of his class for three consecutive years. Godspower now attends a private school where he is thriving. We want to keep him there. We receive no external funding and depend on friends like you to help educate bright but poor students. Godspower won his P2P place with his entrance exam – we hope he wins you over too.
