School dinners for a year!
JOB DONE: SCROLL DOWN TO "SUCCESS STORIES" TO SEE THE DIFFERENCE MADE Mary’s Meals sets up school feeding projects in places where poverty denies children education. Providing a meal in school, we offer short and long term help, and a way to escape the poverty trap. Chima school is a primary school for over 1000 children and is on Likoma Island in Lake Malawi, one of the poorest countries in the world. With your help, we can run Mary’s Meals there and then children can focus on their studies, not their empty stomachs. You've done it!Over 1000 children have been fed for a year at Chima school - scroll down the page to "success stories" to see the difference made.
You helped feed all 1000 children at Chima School!UPDATE: 8TH DECEMBER 2010Check out the video above to see the kids at Chima School enjoying the porridge you helped provide! We'd love it if you could share this update and spread the word as we are now looking to recreate the amazing success you helped make happen for 509 children at Mcheza School.
Thank you - you are amazing! Thanks to your help, we've now raised £7000 to complete this project. Every child at the Chima School on Likoma Island, Malawi, will receive a nutritious meal every single day of the school year - 1000 children will eat properly and be able to concentrate on their studies because of you. We’re overjoyed that you’ve completed this huge project and wanted to pass on the thanks of the staff at Chima School as soon as possible - they sent us this email when they heard the great news and will soon be sending some photos of the children too. “...We want to thank everyone who has watched our film on the See the Difference site and donated money to make sure that the children at Chima School will receive a meal every day. Chima is on Likoma Island, in the middle of Lake Malawi. It’s a beautiful spot, but the remote setting means that people who live there often struggle to get hold of supplies. A guaranteed meal every day in school makes a big difference to hungry children and their families. The new school year in Malawi starts on September 6 and thanks to you, from their first day back, the children will be receiving a mug of likuni phala, a maize porridge with added nutrients, every morning, encouraging them to go to lessons and ensuring that they can concentrate when they get there. We will send photos and an update from the children once the new term is underway. Thank you very much for what you are doing to help them..." Louisa, Mary's Meals.
We’ll stay in touch and let you know when we have more to show you. Until then, give yourselves a huge pat on the back – you’ve done something really wonderful.
