Kill 99.99% of bacteria DEAD!
KILL 99.99% OF BACTERIA DEAD!How do I do that?Take two large buckets, a tube and a very clever filter and dirty water can quickly be turned into clean water and provide for up to 60 people per day. Each kit uses a ceramic candle filter, impregnated with colloidal silver, to purify the water and take out 99.99% of harmful bacteria and parasites (which can cause life-threatening diseases such as Cholera, Typhoid and Dysentery). What does it cost? Each kit costs £27 (which includes the purchase of locally-sourced buckets and delivery to the point of use). One kit can purify up to 10 litres of dirty water per hour and if used for just eight hours per day over the course of a year it would produce c.29,200 litres of clean and safe drinking water. This equates to just 0.0009p per litre. When will I see the difference?Scroll down to 'Success Story' to see the difference made. What will I see?Caleb Kabaho, the local pastor who lives in the village of Katoma, will send you photographs of your kits arriving and being set up with messages from the people using them.
Tell me more...Caleb’s district, likes many parts of Africa, is without safe and clean drinking water. There is little access to bore holes in this rural area. Whilst the Ugandan Government promotes the boiling of water to make it safe for drinking, many residents, especially the young, drink unboiled water and often suffer the consequences of potentially fatal diseases, such as typhoid, cholera and dysentery. Once set up, these water purifying kits provides safe and clean drinking water without the need for boiling or added chemicals. Using well-proven technology, the ceramic filters, impregnated with colloidal silver, destroy 99.99% of all life-threatening bacteria and parasites. Coupled with a siphon tube, the filter is able to provide safe and clean drinking water at the rate of 10 litres per hour. We are currently distributing kits in nine African nations – Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Rwanda, Burundi, DR Congo, South Sudan and Ethiopia. Through our partners they are also being distributed in Togo, Cameroon, Sierra Leone, Malawi, India, Philippines and Haiti.
Update: 26/01/12 Dear Jas, Dom, Edward, Melanie, Mrs Harvey, Olivia, Ms Stevens and SJ Price, Thanks to you, 14 kits have been delivered to Katoma in Uganda, giving the village 7,861 litres of clean water per week (based on kits being used 8 hours per day.) On Wednesday 5th October, Roger and Glenys London, UK Lifewater representatives living and working in Uganda, travelled by bus to Nabingoola trading centre before meeting up with Pastor Caleb to travel the final hour into the bush along deeply rutted and slippery dirt tracks. The half built country church in Katoma was the venue for the afternoon meeting, bringing together teachers, doctors, pastors, local councillors, inquisitive mothers and a policeman to hear about Lifewater and the kits that had been donated by you. Roger demonstrated how the systems are assembled using the kits and the locally-sourced 60 litre buckets. The the various recipients of the 14 kits were all encouraged to try their own hand at assembling the kits. All of the recipients were overjoyed to receive the Lifewater systems which will make a huge difference to a small rural spot in Uganda, which is very unlikely to see safe piped drinking water. A big thank you from Pastor Caleb, the villagers in Katoma and the Lifewater team. |
