HELP A CHILD FROM A TROUBLED BACKGROUND BEAT THE ODDS

How do I do that?

Kids Company provide key workers to act as surrogate parents to children from troubled backgrounds.  With your support they can help them with emotional, practical and educational needs.

What does it cost?

Each key worker costs £8,000 a year per child and we’d like your support for a key worker in London.

When will I see the difference?

When we're raised enough for another key worker (£8000).

What will I see?

We'll send you an update from a key worker.

Tell me more...

The children who attend Kids Company present as lone children, living in chronic deprivation and have experienced extreme trauma and neglect, with limited or no support from adults. 97% of children feel that attending Kids Company changes their lives.

So far, 12,000 children and young people accessed our services; 1800 children and young people with nowhere else to go came to our centre on Christmas day.

Make a difference by giving time at a school or centre

Whatever you’re into, whether it’s street dance or science, gardening or geography, your enthusiasm can help enrich the lives of vulnerable children. Kids Company supports teams located in schools across London; volunteers typically run, or help to run, lunchtime or afterschool clubs for small groups of children. Subjects include sport, dance, drama, music, circus skills, gardening, cookery, art, fashion, craft and design, photography, creative writing and yoga. We are also looking for volunteers to read with children, to play games with them in the playground, and to support their learning in the classroom.

Kids Company provides full training and support. We ask for a minimum commitment of one hour per week, for at least one academic term (12 weeks), but we welcome volunteers who can stay for longer. Volunteers in a school or centre must be over 18 years old and be able to volunteer in the London area.

To apply to volunteer in a school or centre please complete the Volunteer Application Form (click to download) and the Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form (click to download). Email both forms to volunteer@kidsco.org.uk
