Support a family
JOB DONE: SCROLL DOWN TO 'SUCCESS STORY' FOR MORE.
Poverty is one of the main causes of family breakdown. Hope and Homes for Children work with families, communities and governments all over the world to help keep families together. We provide support packages for around 1,000 families each year, throughout Central and Eastern Europe and Africa. Support packages are tailored to each family, but can include help with home repairs, healthcare, vocational training and school fees. £500 will pay for a support package for a family for a year in one of our regions.

Update: 2/12/11 Dear Michael, Beth, Jane, Fiona, Clare, Rachel, Jas and Jill, Thanks to your support, and that of our regular donors, we have been able to put a support package together for a family in Sarajevo. Cosima is a 31 year old single mother with three children: Emilie (14 years), Leila (10 years) and Amir (4 years). With unemployment exceeding 45% in Bosnia, Cosima was finding it impossible to get work of any kind and, following the breakdown of her marriage, she was struggling to pay the rent and feed her family. The children had no contact with their father and Cosima's only source of support was from her father who lives in Austria. Teachers at Cosima's children's school referred the family to us and we met with them to develop an action plan. With our help, Emilie and Leila were enrolled in out-of-school activities and Amir was able to attend day care -freeing up Cosima to look for work. Six months on, Cosima has a full time job as an Office Assistant at the Ministry of International Affairs, both Emilie and Leila have finished the school year with excellent grades and Amir is happily settled in day care. With your support we have enabled this family to become fully self-sufficient and look forward to the future. Thanks for your support Ann Tate, Director of Fundraising & Communications |
