Save the Herne Hill Velodrome
SAVE THE HERNE HILL VELODROMEHow do I do that? The Herne Hill Velodrome is the last remaining finals venue from the 1948 Olympic games. Originally built in 1891 it remains one of the best cycling tracks in the UK, but we need your help to restore it and to give it a viable future – that’s why we need to collect the kind pledge you made right now. We’ve made progress on the track with a new lease to British Cycling and the track was resurfaced in summer 2011. However, we still need your help to ensure the Velodrome has a viable future at the heart of our community. What does it cost?We are applying for grants and funds from various bodies but need your cash to continue our work in the immediate few months. Your generous donation will be used to help develop the vision for the site, and in time, on the actual transformation of the land and buildings as we go through a detailed design and planning phase. When and how will I see the difference?Hillary Peachey, Chair of the Herne Hill Velodrome Trust, and her team will continue to keep riders, local residents and politicians up to date via our newsletter, campaign website, media work, Facebook, Twitter and public meetings.
