Save a life for less than the cost of a stamp
STOP KIDS DYING FROM DIARRHOEAHow do I do that?Diarrhoea is the second leading cause of death of children under five globally – more than AIDS, measles and malaria combined - however a simple rehydration tablet can change that! What does it cost?It costs just 28p to provide a child with a rehydration tablet. When will I see the difference? When we’ve raised enough to treat another 1,000 children (£280). (The minimum donation is £1, so with gift aid added you can make a difference to four children). What will I see?The doctors from the Colombia project will show you how those 28p tablets saved lives. Scroll down the page to "success stories" to see the difference already made.
Tell me more...Whilst diarrhoea in the UK is cause for a day under the duvet, in the developing world it’s a much bigger problem. Without clean water supplies, good sanitation or access to medicine, over a million children and babies are killed by the condition every year. The good news is that recovery costs just 28p. A basic rehydration tablet can help the body rebalance, and avoid side effects like malnutrition and compromised immunity. Doctors of the World send mobile river teams into remote communities in the Medio Atrato region of Colombia. Life-saving treatment can be administered and local healthcare workers trained to give medical support once teams have left. Scroll down to "success stories" to hear how Dr Vincente used rehydration tablets to nurse a ten month old baby back to health.

A doctor's note!An amazing letter from Colombia.Congratulations, you've helped to save a life. Really. Don't just take our word for it though - take a look at the letter below, sent to you from one of the Doctors of the World team in Bojaya, Colombia and see how your support has really made a difference. The letter is from Dr. Vicente, who can been seen in the photo above. The photo is taken in one of the villages that Doctors of the World visit. It is in the Playita community on the Opogado river in Bojaya in the Choco region of Colombia. They hold the clinic in the same place that the children have their schooling. The photos show Dr. Vicente measuring a baby girl, to check that she is growing properly. The baby’s parents are looking on while Dr Vicente sees to their child. Imelicia, an Embera nurse is working in the background (Embera are the indigenous people that live in this part of rural Colombia), she is administering medication to the patients. And here is the letter from Dr Vicente about one of his other patients... When we say an amazing letter, we mean it - don't you think? A huge thank you from all the team at SeeTheDifference.org for making this possible and for your help in changing a part of the world.
