Bring fun and laughter to a disabled child in Surrey
BRING FUN AND LAUGHTER TO A DISABLED CHILD IN SURREYHow do I do that?At our day centres and community projects across Surrey we provide one-to-one play sessions that give disabled children the opportunity to make friends and develop a range of essential skills. What does it cost?£20 will pay for a playworker to supervise a child on a one-to-one basis at a session. When will I see the difference? When we’ve raised enough for 50 play sessions (50 x £20 = £1000). What will I see? We’ll send you photos of the sessions we held - scroll down the page to "success stories" to see the difference already made.
Tell me more...Looking after a disabled child can be a tough job. They might find it hard to communicate verbally, have physical limitations, or find new environments and routines upsetting. But, as Jane explains in the video, most parents wouldn’t think of putting their child into full-time care. And having support makes it easier to keep families together. Disability Challengers has dedicated centres in Farnham and Guildford, and community based projects throughout the Surrey area. Every year we provide 18,000 play places for children with physical and learning impairments. Children are supervised on a one-to-one or two-to-one basis dependent on their needs, so they get all the care that they need, and parents get a well earned break! You brought a bucket load of laughter to 13 children!
Update: 3rd December 2010 Dear Alexandra, Joe, Colin, Tisha, Mrs Coleman, David, Dansiva007 and Ian Thanks to you 13 children with complex impairments enjoyed one-to-one sessions with playworkers – in the short video above you can see just how much fun and laughter that our play sessions give to kids like these. By spreading the word, “liking” the project on facebook and telling your friends you can help us make even more of a difference. Thanks again!
