Give a disadvantaged kid a horseriding lesson
GIVE A DISADVANTAGED KID A HORSERIDING LESSONHow do I do that?CHICKS provides free week long respite breaks for disadvantaged children from across the UK- one of the most popular activities during that week is the horse riding lessons, as this is often a first time experience. You can pay for one child to experience something new. What does it cost?It costs £20 per horseriding lesson. When will I see the difference? When we have raised enough to give a full CHICKS camp of 16 children horseriding lessons (16 x £20 = £320). What will I see? We'll show you the difference you made to some of those children through quotes and photos (with their parents’ and guardians’ permission, of course!). It sounds simple, but it makes a difference.
Tell me more...The children CHICKS support come from a variety of backgrounds – those living in poverty, children that are being neglected or abused, either mentally, physically or sexually, children who have lost parents or even children who are full time young carers. A CHICKS break changes a child’s life, we know as we have helped over 9000 children since we began in 1992. In 2012 (our 20th Anniversary) CHICKS aims to help 1,200 underprivileged children. We want to give them happy memories, something every child deserves. One of our most popular activities on camp is horse riding – it encourages trust and teamwork and builds confidence, courage and self-esteem. We know horse riding makes a difference; many of the children write to us including Jessica: “My favourite thing was horse riding, I never knew how much fun it would actually be. It was fun because I got to go on a horse and got it to go into a trot and make it stop. I would be very unhappy if other children didn't get to have the fun and laughter that I got. The volunteers and staff made my break the most fun ever; they were like family.”
