GIVE KAREN A COOKER A FEED HER KIDS

How did you do that?

Karen and Dave have three kids – Lucy (6), Zach (5) and Chloe (3) – and another one on the way. All five (soon to be six) of them live in a two bedroom council house and three weeks ago when the council came round to do a routine inspection their cooker was condemned. Karen and Dave are forbidden to use the cooker but the kids are too young to understand why they can’t have hot meals - your support has changed that!

What did it cost?

£330 paid for a new gas cooker to be delivered and installed into this family’s home.

When did you see the difference?

We ordered Karen and Dave's cooker just after we raised the money on 24th June 2011 - we will report back once the new cooker has been installed.

Buttle UK provide a high quality, personal and fast response to families living in crisis, when there is no one else that can help. Before these families can come to us they must have exhausted other avenues - often suffering health or social difficulties they may lack support from family or friends and struggle to make their income stretch far enough. We are the last and only place they can turn to for such help.

Families living in poverty in the UK often lack basic items such as a cooker. Providing these can offer relief from a critical situation. Working with over 5000 voluntary sector or local authority partners across the UK, we are able to target support at those most in need: children and young people living with severe medical, emotional, social and financial issues.
