Give Emma a cooker – and a new start in life
Update: 4th July 2011 - thanks to your support, and that of our regular donors, we have now raised the money to buy Emma a cooker - it will be ordered today and we'll update you once it has been installed. GIVE EMMA A COOKER - AND A NEW START IN LIFEJOB DONE: AWAITING FEEDBACK FROM EMMA How did you do that?Emma is 20 years old and estranged from her family. She has spent the last two years living in a hostel but has just had the great news that the council have found her a flat. It is totally unfurnished and with just £48 of income support to live on Emma can’t afford to buy any of the basic items that she needs to move in. With your help we have been able to provide her with a cooker so she can at least cook her own meals. What did it cost?£330 paid for a new gas cooker to be delivered and installed into Emma’s new flat. When will I see the difference?Emma's cooker has now been ordered - you’ll see the difference you’ve made as soon as the cooker has been delivered and installed in her flat. What will I see?Once the cooker has been installed Hazel, one of our caseworkers, will tell you about the difference the cooker has made to Emma. Tell me more...Buttle UK provide a high quality, personal and fast response to families living in crisis, when there is no one else that can help. Before these families can come to us they must have exhausted other avenues - often suffering health or social difficulties they may lack support from family or friends and struggle to make their income stretch far enough. We are the last and only place they can turn to for such help. Families living in poverty in the UK often lack basic items such as a cooker. Providing these can offer relief from a critical situation. Working with over 5000 voluntary sector or local authority partners across the UK, we are able to target support at those most in need: children and young people living with severe medical, emotional, social and financial issues.
Update: 2nd August 2011 Dear Mr Sagovsky Thanks to you, and the support of our regular donors, Emma now has a new cooker - click on the video above to hear from Hazel, our caseworker, who spoke to her after she had received her cooker.
