Give a bed to a UK kid living in poverty
JOB DONE: SCROLL DOWN TO 'SUCCESS STORY' TO FIND OUT MOREGIVE A BED TO A UK KID LIVING IN POVERTYHow do I do that?Buttle UK work with children living in extreme poverty across the UK. We are the last resort for families who have exhausted social services and other welfare organisations and receive c.100 applications for children's beds each month - you can help give one of those kids a bed of their own. What does it cost?It costs £150 to provide a child with a bed and bedding. When will I see the difference?Scroll down to "success story" to see the difference made.
Tell me more...Buttle UK work with children living in extreme poverty across the UK. It could be because of domestic abuse, illness, the death of a parent, family debt or addiction issues, but they’re coping with situations we can hardly imagine. And at the end of each day, many of them don’t even have the simple comfort of their own bed to sleep in. £150 sounds a lot for a bed. But when you break it down, it really only covers the very basics. A single bed frame (from somewhere like Argos) costs £50. And a frame’s no good without a mattress (that’s another £50). An entry-level bedding set (single duvet, just one pillow and a mattress protector) is around £20, and a first set of covers is another £20. The final £10 covers the delivery cost. Buttle UK gave out 1,517 beds to children last year. And that money only goes to families that have already exhausted social services and any other official welfare organisations. For every one of those children, Buttle UK was their only option.
